Sudan's Malik Aggar prioritizes military solution over U.S. peace initiative

Malik Aggar, Vice President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, has expressed skepticism regarding a U.S.-led peace initiative. He stated that military decisiveness remains the government's primary option unless serious conditions for negotiation are met.

Aggar emphasized that the Sudanese government requires the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to withdraw from cities and residential areas before any formal negotiations can begin. Issues such as disarmament and political arrangements would only be addressed after the RSF has withdrawn and its fighters are consolidated in specific locations. He noted that while the government is open to dialogue, any settlement must preserve the unity of the state and its institutions.

Additionally, Aggar accused Ethiopia of allowing the RSF to use its territory to conduct operations against the Sudanese army. This follows reports and investigations suggesting that Ethiopia may host training camps for RSF fighters near the border, allegations which the Ethiopian government has officially denied.
