Sudan's Tasis government pursues reconstruction and food security diplomacy

The Tasis government, led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), is pursuing a strategy of reconstruction and institutional reform to stabilize regions under its control in Sudan. A key component of this vision is the restructuring of security institutions, with Hemedti promising the creation of a professional national army that is loyal to the nation rather than specific ethnic or regional groups.

In West Kordofan, the government has launched a reconstruction plan focused on rehabilitating schools and hospitals to support returning displaced populations. This includes the development of the village of Julidat, where residents have been provided with agricultural tools and seeds to promote economic self-sufficiency.

Simultaneously, Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Al-Taïchi is conducting a diplomatic offensive to address a looming food security crisis. In communication with the UN Secretary-General, the administration has proposed concrete measures, including the establishment of a technical alert mechanism and the creation of food reserve stocks, to prevent mass starvation and maintain regional stability in the Horn of Africa.
