Sudene releases data on Northeast Brazil agricultural production
The Superintendência do Desenvolvimento do Nordeste (Sudene) has released a new data panel through its Data Nordeste platform, detailing the most significant agricultural productions in Brazil's Northeast region. The data, based on the 2024 Municipal Agricultural Production (PAM) from IBGE, categorizes crops into permanent and temporary varieties.
In the category of permanent crops, agave (sisal) stands out as a regional exclusive, with production exceeding 93,000 tons and a value of nearly R$ 349 million. The Northeast also dominates the cashew nut market, accounting for 99.56% of Brazil's total production, valued at R$ 687.5 million, with Ceará leading as the top producer at approximately 102,000 tons. Mango is the third most significant permanent crop, representing over 82% of the national production.
