Sudha Yadav sworn in as Karnataka Governor

Dr. Sudha Yadav has been sworn in as the 20th Governor of Karnataka, becoming the state’s second woman to hold the constitutional office. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru, with Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Vibhu Bakhru administering the oath.

Yadav, a senior BJP leader and former Member of Parliament from Mahendragarh, succeeds outgoing Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. The ceremony was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, and various other state officials and dignitaries.

A PhD holder in Chemistry from IIT Roorkee, Yadav’s political journey began following the death of her husband, BSF Deputy Commandant Sukhbir Singh Yadav, who was martyred during the 1999 Kargil War. Her previous roles include serving on the BJP Parliamentary Board and as a member of the National Commission for Backward Classes.
