Sudi Ozkan, owner of Trimontium Princess Hotel, has died

Turkish businessman Sudi Ozkan, known as the ‘King of the Casino’, has passed away at the age of 87. Ozkan was the owner of the Princess International Group and the Trimontium Princess Hotel in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

In 1998, Ozkan’s company, Ozkanlar Group, acquired a 58% stake in the Trimontium hotel for $3.15 million. Following the acquisition, he invested significantly in the modernization of the landmark building and established a casino within the complex. His business empire expanded internationally following the closure of casinos in Turkey in 1998, leading to the development of hotels and gaming venues across various countries.

Beyond his hospitality and gaming ventures, Ozkan was also linked to the sports sector in Bulgaria. In 2007, he was identified in media reports as a potential buyer for the shares of the football club Botev Plovdiv during a period of financial crisis for the team.
