Sudip Kumar Gharami and Abhishek Porel lead Bengal against Delhi
Sudip Kumar Gharami and Abhishek Porel scored unbeaten centuries to lead Bengal to a commanding position against Delhi during a Ranji Trophy Group C match. After Delhi posted a first-innings total of 240, Bengal reached 304 for three at the close of play on the second day, driven by an unbroken 199-run fourth-wicket partnership between Gharami (122) and Porel (114).
Gharami’s performance continues a strong domestic season for the right-handed batter, who has scored 2,745 first-class runs across 43 matches, including nine centuries. His rise in professional cricket follows a background of significant financial hardship; the son of a mason, Gharami credits his father’s support and daily training assistance for his development from a childhood spent in a mud house to a professional athlete.
In other Ranji Trophy action, Jharkhand reached 587 all out against Kerala, featuring centuries from Aditya Singh, Shikhar Mohan, and captain Virat Singh. In Ahmedabad, Gujarat reached 205 for two in response to Odisha’s 324, with openers Aarya Desai and Vedant Trivedi both scoring 94.
