Sue Cook calls Alan Partridge gag a 'pain in the neck

Veteran TV presenter Sue Cook, 77, told the Peter Purves Podcast that the recurring Alan Partridge joke – especially the line “Sue Cook’s pulled out” – has become a source of irritation. She said the gag leads some people to view her as unreliable and that the constant references have even affected how her children perceive her, describing the moment she was mentioned on the show as making her “dead cool” to them.

Cook, best known for co‑hosting BBC’s Crimewatch, noted that while the joke was intended to poke fun at her squeaky‑clean image, it has persisted for years and remains a notable part of the Alan Partridge universe created by comedian Steve Coogan.
