Actress Sue Devaney has discussed the upcoming exit of her character, Debbie Webster, from Coronation Street. Devaney expressed a desire to have remained with the show until her retirement, but noted that the character’s journey will reach an emotional conclusion due to a young-onset vascular dementia diagnosis.

In recent plot developments, Debbie’s storyline has involved complex family dynamics with Carl Webster, her son. Following a period of tension and legal issues, the two have begun repairing their relationship. However, new plotlines see Debbie’s loyalties tested as Carl becomes a primary suspect in the investigation regarding Eva Price’s attack at the Rovers Return. Devaney noted that Debbie’s character struggles with paranoia and confusion regarding her perceptions of Carl’s involvement.
