Sue Perkins launches Audible podcast exploring ADHD diagnosis

Comedian and former Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins has released a new Audible Original podcast titled ‘Attention, Please! Tales From a Distracted Mind’. The audio memoir explores her experience receiving an ADHD diagnosis later in life.

The series utilizes immersive sound design, dramatic recreations, and music by Joe Zeitlin to depict Perkins’ internal experiences. Throughout the podcast, Perkins consults with various experts, including psychologist Dr Tara Quinn-Cirillo, neuroscience expert Professor Ellie Dommett, and endocrinologist Professor Niamh Martin, to better understand her diagnosis through current research.

Perkins describes the diagnosis as being ‘equal parts relief and ‘oh God, now what?’’ and notes that the project is an attempt to understand her brain and learn how to live with it. The series also features explorations of different support methods, such as equine therapy and ‘body doubling’.
