Sueda Demirci expands sheep farming in Balıkesir via state grants

Sueda Demirci, a 25-year-old veterinary technician living in the Altıeylül district of Balıkesir, has successfully expanded her sheep farming business using government support. In 2022, Demirci applied for and received a 100,000 lira grant through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s ‘Expert Hands Project’ within the Rural Development Support framework.

Initially using the grant to purchase 50 sheep and two rams, Demirci has grown her operation to approximately 150 breeding sheep and lambs. Her business focuses on raising the geographically indicated Balıkesir lamb. Leveraging her professional background as a veterinary technician, she continues to grow the enterprise alongside her family in the Aslıhantepecik neighborhood.
