Suede celebrates 30th anniversary of ‘Coming Up’ album

The British rock band Suede is marking the 30th anniversary of their third studio album, ‘Coming Up’. Released in September 1996 through Nude Records, the album served as a commercial turning point for the group, transitioning them from an alternative rock act into an international success.

The record followed a period of significant lineup changes, including the departure of guitarist Bernard Butler and the addition of Richard Oakes and keyboardist Neil Codling. Under the production of Ed Buller, the band adopted a more direct and accessible pop approach compared to their previous work. ‘Coming Up’ reached number one in the UK and produced five Top 10 singles.
