Sueños Compartidos verdict postponed amid statute of limitations concerns

The Federal Oral Court 5 has postponed the verdict in the ‘Sueños Compartidos’ case until Monday, September 14. This decision brings the legal proceedings to the brink of the statute of limitations, as the new date falls just one day before the deadline cited by the prosecution.

The case investigates the alleged diversion of funds intended for social housing programs managed by the Madres de Plaza de Mayo Foundation. Key defendants include former officials Julio De Vido and José López, as well as Sergio and Pablo Schoklender. The prosecution has requested six years of imprisonment and special disqualification for the primary accused, citing the crime of fraudulent administration to the detriment of the State.

During the recent hearing, the court decided to split the final statements of the nine defendants into two sessions. While Sergio Schoklender addressed the court, other defendants, including Pablo Schoklender, José López, and Julio De Vido, chose not to exercise their right to speak. The remaining defendants are scheduled to complete their statements on Monday before the sentence is delivered.
