Suez Canal Economic Zone chief meets US Deputy Commerce official to boost investment

Walid Jamal Al‑Din, head of Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), hosted Steve Heinz, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis, and a delegation at the SCZone headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting highlighted the zone’s strategic assets – industrial parks, logistics hubs and ports on both the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, integrated transport links of roads, railways and tunnels, free‑trade agreements covering more than two billion consumers, a one‑stop digital service platform, competitive energy costs and a skilled, cost‑effective workforce.

Heinz praised the infrastructure upgrades and expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with American companies. Both sides discussed organizing a promotional tour in the United States later this fiscal year to attract U.S. investment across multiple sectors, underscoring the broader Egypt‑U.S. economic partnership.
