Suffolk County Council proposes 1,019-home development near Lowestoft

Suffolk County Council has submitted planning applications for a major new housing development north of Lowestoft. The initial proposal seeks outline permission for 899 dwellings as part of a larger scheme that could eventually deliver a total of 1,019 homes.

Described as a “sustainable urban extension,” the project would be situated on farmland between Corton and Gunton. In addition to the housing, the plans include a 160-bed adult care home, up to 1.52 hectares of commercial space, a primary school, an early years facility, a local centre, and a potential GP surgery.

The development, part of the North of Lowestoft Garden Village, is intended to create a well-connected community with strategic landscaping and sustainable drainage infrastructure. Vehicular access is planned via two main points from the A47 Yarmouth Road.
