Sufi leader condemns reported attempts to target Mecca
Dr. Abdul Hadi al-Qasabi, head of the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders, has issued a strong condemnation regarding reported attempts to target Mecca. He described any threat to the security of the holy city or its pilgrims as a heinous crime and a violation of religious, ethical, and humanitarian red lines.
Al-Qasabi emphasized that Mecca should not be used as a field for political conflict, a bargaining chip, or a venue for settling accounts. He warned that involving the holy city in military confrontations represents a dangerous escalation that the international community and the Islamic world must not treat as a passing incident.
Furthermore, he stated that targeting civilians, sanctities, and places of worship cannot be justified by any political or military pretext. He called for all necessary measures to be taken to deter attempts to compromise the security of Mecca and Medina, and urged for a full investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
