Sufmi Dasco Ahmad addresses transboundary haze criticism

Indonesian Deputy Speaker of the House, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that criticism regarding transboundary haze caused by forest and land fires should be met with verifiable action rather than offense. Speaking during a Youth Pledge commemoration in Jakarta, Dasco noted that Indonesia acknowledges the concerns raised by Malaysia and Singapore.

He emphasized that the priority remains protecting affected citizens, strengthening prevention and law enforcement, and restoring the environment. Dasco also highlighted the need for accountability from businesses, including those with transnational operations. He advocated for strengthened cooperation among ASEAN parliaments to address regional issues such as disaster prevention, food security, and energy resilience.
