Sugar beet harvest begins in Nevşehir and Kahramanmaraş

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in several Turkish agricultural regions, including the Elbistan Plain in Kahramanmaraş and the Gülşehir district in Nevşehir.

In Nevşehir, production covers 59,395 decares with an expected yield of 388,729 tons this year. Local officials, including Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Özgür Memiş, have been visiting farmers to monitor the harvest and discuss production status. Farmers are working to complete the harvest using machinery before upcoming rainfall to ensure the crops reach processing factories.

In Kahramanmaraş, the harvest in the Elbistan Plain has also commenced. While much of the crop is sent to sugar factories, some is sold directly in markets for consumption. The market price for the product has been set at 100 TL per kilogram.
