Sugar beet harvest begins in Çorum and Yozgat

The sugar beet harvest season has commenced in parts of Turkey, including Çorum and Yozgat. In Çorum, the Çorum Sugar Factory has entered its 9th sugar beet procurement campaign period for 2026-2027. Ahmet Pehlivan, Chairman of the Çorum Sugar Beet Growers Cooperative, noted that sugar beet cultivation is a vital link between agriculture and industry, providing employment and supporting sectors such as transportation and services.

In Yozgat, farmers have begun harvesting crops after a six-month cultivation period. Producers reported that favorable rainfall this year has improved crop quality and yield. However, despite the positive growth, farmers expressed concern regarding economic stability, specifically requesting that authorities announce competitive procurement prices to ensure a profitable season.
