Sugar control strategies for anti-aging and metabolic health

Experts suggest that controlling sugar intake is a key factor in anti-aging and metabolic health. High sugar consumption can promote glycation, creating advanced glycation end products (AGEs) that are linked to inflammation and metabolic issues.

According to metabolic expert Professor Robert Lustig, sugar control does not require the total elimination of carbohydrates or fruit. Instead, the focus should be on distinguishing between natural sugars found in whole foods and added sugars found in processed foods and beverages.

To manage sugar intake effectively, experts recommend reducing added sugars, limiting hidden sugars in processed goods, prioritizing whole foods, and maintaining natural fiber intake. Rather than a strict ban, sugar should be treated as an occasional treat rather than a daily staple.
