Suhl Police investigate road and gas station blockade in Zella-Mehlis

In the early morning of August 9, 2026, unidentified individuals used police-style barrier tape to block a road junction and an Orlen gas station in Zella-Mehlis, near Suhl, Germany. The incident came to light after a caller contacted the Suhl Police to inquire if an accident had occurred due to the visible road closures.

Police officers removed the barriers and noted that the act could lead to serious accidents, particularly involving motorcyclists, due to driver confusion. Additionally, the gas station suffered economic damage as the tape created the false impression that the business was closed. The Suhl Police Inspection Service is currently investigating potential criminal consequences for the unknown perpetrators.
