Suicide prevention programmes launched in Argentina and Mexico
The Casa de Auxilio in Ramos Mejía, Argentina, opened registration for its third Mental Health Day, a training session for health and education professionals focused on preventing suicide and self‑harm. Lecturers Diana Altavilla and María Inés Pastore will present tools for early detection and support on 7 August.
In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the municipal institute IMPACTA expanded its suicide‑prevention campaign with awareness talks in workplaces and schools after noting a rise in suicidal thoughts. Director Hugo Magaña highlighted recent sessions at the Robertshaw company and ongoing digital outreach, urging early intervention and promoting the national Lifeline (800 911 2000).
