Suisun City reopens City Hall following malware attack
Suisun City has fully reopened all City Hall departments to the public following a cybersecurity incident that occurred in August. The malware attack disrupted critical public safety systems, including 911 routing, police and fire dispatch, and various city records, prompting officials to declare a state of emergency.
To contain the threat and preserve evidence for a federal investigation, the city shut down its IT network. During the outage, emergency services were maintained by routing 911 and non-emergency calls through the Solano County dispatch center. While in-person services are resuming, dispatch services will continue to be handled via Solano County for the time being.
Suisun City is currently working with the FBI, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the California Office of Emergency Services to investigate the incident and securely restore systems. Although the investigation is ongoing, officials stated there is currently no evidence that residents’ personal data was accessed or stolen, but they are continuing to audit networks to confirm.
