Sukhbir Badal accuses Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann of misuse of power
Sukhbir Badal, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of using his ‘green pen’ initiative for looting and oppression rather than public interest. Speaking at a rally in Kharar, Badal criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, citing recent incidents of alleged police harassment and suicide.
Badal specifically referenced a case in Dhuri where a young man, Chamkaur Singh, reportedly consumed poison in a police lock-up following alleged torture. He claimed that individuals were targeted for protesting against the Chief Minister or questioning Finance Minister Harpal Cheema regarding drug trafficking.
Furthermore, Badal alleged that the current administration is providing impunity to criminals and drug mafias. He criticized the appointment of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, a man with multiple criminal cases, to a party position. Badal pledged that if SAD returns to power, the party will implement strict laws to seize the assets of gangsters and drug traffickers, carrying minimum 20-year prison sentences.
