SUKIPT 2026 gold medalists eye international competition

Athletes at the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Sports (SUKIPT) games are using their recent successes to aim for higher international competitions.

Archer Aina Syazwana Abdul Muhaimin, following a gold medal in the women’s compound team event, is preparing for her debut at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. She is traveling to South Korea for a two-week training camp to practice with the South Korean national team and refine her shooting form. Her goals include securing at least one team medal and scoring over 700 points in individual events.

In shooting, former national shooter Umar Fareed Faroukh secured a gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event representing Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). His victory, with a score of 233.9, serves as a platform for his ambition to rejoin the national squad and compete in the ASEAN University Games (AUG).
