Sulata Dev criticizes India's foreign policy on US tariffs

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sulata Dev has criticized the Indian government's foreign policy regarding United States trade tariffs. She argued that personal rapport between leaders, such as the meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump, does not guarantee strong bilateral relations if economic interests are not protected.

Dev expressed concern that while India provides market access to American goods and investment, the US continues to impose high tariffs on Indian products. She stated that such actions are detrimental to the interests of Indian farmers and small traders, suggesting that India should consider retaliatory measures to protect its own interests.

Additionally, the MP raised concerns regarding the transition to E20 petrol. She emphasized that as ethanol blending increases, the government must ensure vehicle technology and engines are adequately prepared to handle the fuel quality, noting that the concerns of owners of older vehicles should not be ignored.
