Sulcis Iglesiente launches Just Transition Fund internships

The Sulcis Iglesiente region in Sardinia is launching a new professional training initiative funded by the Just Transition Fund to support the area's economic shift from mining and industry toward sustainability and innovation. Starting October 1, citizens from 23 municipalities can apply for internships through the Sardegna Lavoro portal.

There are two types of training paths available. The first focuses on training and orientation with a monthly allowance of 700 euros. The second, designated as ‘High Competence’ for individuals with specific educational qualifications, offers a gross monthly allowance of up to 1,400 euros.

Internships will last six months, with the possibility of a six-month extension. For individuals with disabilities registered under Law 68/99, the duration can extend up to 24 months. Regional Labor Councilor Desirè Manca stated that the goal is to value local human capital by helping unemployed individuals, those seeking relocation, and young people acquire market-ready skills. Training projects will be validated by ASPAL, with support provided by employment centers in Carbonia and Iglesias.
