Sulejów Reservoir water levels drop significantly due to drought

The Sulejów Reservoir in central Poland is experiencing a significant decline in water levels due to ongoing hydrological drought. Drone footage captured by the creator ‘Lecę w Miasto’ reveals extensive sandy patches, exposed sections of the reservoir floor, and a shoreline that has receded by dozens of meters in several locations.

Hydrological data confirms the rapid depletion of the water body. On September 18, the reservoir's capacity was approximately 34.1 million cubic meters. By October 1, this figure dropped to 32.6 million cubic meters, representing a loss of about 1.5 million cubic meters in less than two weeks. This current volume is significantly lower than the reservoir's normative capacity of 75.1 million cubic meters. The reservoir, located on the Pilica River, serves critical recreational and retention functions for the Łódź Voivodeship.
