Sulfur prices in Brazil fall for sixth consecutive week
Sulfur prices in the Brazilian market have declined for the sixth straight week, with recent negotiations indicating values below US$ 900 per ton. This represents an accumulated reduction of approximately 25% since late June. The downward trend aligns with international price drops observed in China, the United States, and the Middle East.
Despite the decrease in raw material costs, the impact on the phosphate fertilizer market remains limited. Analysts from StoneX suggest that production cuts in phosphate fertilizers continue in several countries, including Brazil. For manufacturers to resume production levels and reverse recent interruptions, further significant decreases in sulfur prices may be required.
Consequently, expectations for substantial price drops in phosphate fertilizers in the short term remain moderate. For example, corn producers currently require more bags of grain to purchase a ton of Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP) compared to the same period last year.
