Sulmona activists demand clarity on Get Energy pyrolysis plant proposal

The Comitato No Get Energy Sulmona has called for an urgent meeting with Mayor Luca Tirabassi following a decision by the Maiella National Park to halt a proposed pyrolysis plant project by Get Energy.

The National Park clarified that the project is a completely new and different undertaking from previous proposals, necessitating a second-level environmental impact assessment. This study is deemed essential to evaluate the cumulative effects on the Valle Peligna, considering existing infrastructure like the Snam plant and recent wildfire damage.

The committee criticized the Sulmona municipal administration for its continued silence and lack of an official stance on the matter, expressing concern that the local government is avoiding clarity regarding the industrial, environmental, and health implications for the city.
