Regional Italian sports events host memorials and charity matches

Various regional sports events and memorial tournaments are taking place across Italy, often combining athletic competition with social causes and remembrance.

In Sulmona, ASD Sulmona Futsal is hosting the first Andrea Di Maria Memorial, a tournament featuring regional teams Celano and Atri to honor a former director. In Velletri, a charity football match between the Italian Actors National Team and local legends aims to raise funds for the pediatric oncology department at Bambino Gesù Hospital.

Other commemorative events include the Alessandro Cascone Memorial, which uses football to promote awareness against cyberbullying in collaboration with the Postal Police, and the Pietro Benigni Memorial in Sezze, which combines basketball with health screenings and support for the Fuorimisura Association. In Lazzaro, the Enzo Benedetto Memorial brought together various local sports clubs, including Domotek Volley and Reggina, for a multi-disciplinary event.

In competitive leagues, Acqua San Bernardo Subalcuneo secured a 9-6 comeback victory against IM-EL Osasio Galvanotecnica Monticellese in the Serie A Banca d’Alba play-offs, while Valsanterno prepares for a crucial Eccellenza match against Novafeltria.
