Sulmona hosts national hiking week and renews ties with Constanta
Sulmona is hosting several cultural and sporting events, including the 27th National Week of Hiking and Cycle Tourism organized by the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI). The event, scheduled for late September, is expected to draw approximately 1,800 hikers from across Italy for over 40 activities, including guided walks, e-bike tours, and MTB excursions. The festivities include cultural exhibitions, musical performances such as Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’, and theatrical shows.
Additionally, Sulmona is renewing its long-standing twinning relationship with the Romanian city of Constanta, a connection rooted in their shared namesake, the poet Ovid. To mark this institutional and cultural bond, the ninth edition of the ‘Ovidio Running’ sporting event will take place in the historic center. Local officials from both cities emphasized that this partnership serves as a driver for cultural exchange and tourism promotion.
