Sulmona police seize industrial site over illegal waste burial

Police in Sulmona have intervened at an industrial facility to stop the illegal disposal of waste through burial. During a raid in the city's industrial zone, officers discovered dozens of bags filled with industrial scraps prepared to be covered with a fresh layer of concrete to hide them permanently.

Authorities have seized an area of approximately 80 square meters within a building manufacturing construction materials. The investigation is currently focused on the exact nature of the materials; technicians from Arpa Abruzzo have been tasked with analyzing samples to determine if the waste contains toxic or hazardous substances that could damage the local ecosystem or groundwater.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Sulmona has opened an investigation. A 30-year-old entrepreneur and legal representative of the company has been reported for the suspected illegal management and disposal of waste.
