Sultan Agunbiade to debut at ITTF Africa Championships

Nigerian table tennis youth player Sultan Agunbiade has received a wildcard invitation to compete in the 2026 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa Championships in Tangier, Morocco. This tournament marks Agunbiade’s first appearance at a senior continental championship.

Known as ‘Mr Consistency’, the 18-year-old has seen significant international progress, including a runner-up finish at the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Cup and reaching the round of 16 at the WTT Contender Lagos. He previously played a key role in Nigeria’s Under-19 Boys’ Team victory over Egypt at the ITTF Africa Youth Championships in Accra.

Agunbiade comes from a prominent sporting background as the son of Tajudeen Agunbiade, a two-time Paralympic gold medallist.
