Sultan Haitham bin Tariq conducts diplomatic missions to Saudi Arabia and UK
Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq is engaging in high-level diplomatic efforts to address regional instability and maritime security in the Middle East. Following a meeting in Jeddah with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the two leaders discussed de-escalation strategies and the necessity of preserving stability in the Gulf. A primary focus of these discussions is the restoration of safe commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for global energy shipments currently facing heightened tensions.
In addition to regional coordination with Saudi Arabia, Sultan Haitham will undertake a state visit to the United Kingdom from October 20 to 22. King Charles III and Queen Camilla will host the Sultan at Windsor Castle. The visit underscores the historic relationship between Britain and Oman and highlights Oman’s role as a neutral intermediary in regional conflicts, particularly in maintaining dialogue with Iran to facilitate peace and protect vital maritime trade routes.
