Sultan Hasanuddin Airport sees three aircraft incidents in three days

Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Maros has experienced three separate aircraft incidents on its runways over a three-day period in August 2026.

The first incident occurred on August 24, involving an Indonesian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30 MK2 fighter jet. During a post-overhaul test flight, the aircraft reportedly suffered braking issues, causing it to veer 30 meters off the end of runway 13.

On August 25, an Indonesian Navy CASA U-6215 (NC 212-200) aircraft skidded during landing on runway 21 after a main right tire burst.

The third incident took place on August 26, involving a Piper PA-31 Navajo surveillance aircraft operated by PT VAST Intra Avia. The aircraft experienced a wheel lock technical issue during takeoff preparations for a flight to Juanda.

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia confirmed that airport operations remained normal throughout these events, as the facility utilizes multiple runways to maintain air traffic flow.
