Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah attends university convocations in Brunei

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam attended two major academic ceremonies in August 2026, presiding over the 38th Convocation of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the 16th Haflut Takharruj of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).

At the UBD ceremony, the Sultan congratulated graduates and emphasized the importance of character, integrity, and thoughtful use of technology. He noted the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and welcomed the launch of the UBD Digital Transformation Blueprints, urging graduates to use technology responsibly and ethically.

During the UNISSA ceremony, the Sultan praised the institution's role in combining religious knowledge with modern science. He highlighted the university's new Diploma in Islamic Medical Practice and its strategic international collaborations, including dual degree programs with prestigious universities in Malaysia.
