Sultan Ibrahim celebrates birthday of Raja Permaisuri Agong

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has extended birthday greetings to the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Raja Zarith Sofiah, in observance of her birthday on August 14. Through social media, the Sultan shared a collection of photographs and biographical details chronicling the life and milestones of the Queen.

Raja Zarith Sofiah is the second daughter of the late Sultan Idris Shah II of Perak and the late Raja Perempuan Muzwin. Her educational background includes schooling at Sekolah Kebangsaan Datin Khadijah and SMK Raja Perempuan Kalsom in Kuala Kangsar, followed by studies at Cheltenham Ladies’ College in England. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Somerville College, University of Oxford, in 1979, a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies in 1983, and a Master of Arts in 1986.

She married Sultan Ibrahim on September 22, 1982, when he held the title of Tunku Mahkota Johor. The royal couple has six children: five sons and one daughter. In March 2015, she was appointed Permaisuri Johor during the coronation ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim.
