Sultan Ibrahim warns against social media abuse and AI misuse

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has issued a reminder for citizens to exercise responsibility and etiquette when using social media. Speaking at the 105th convocation ceremony of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Shah Alam, the King warned against using digital platforms to insult, abuse, or damage the dignity of others.

Sultan Ibrahim specifically cautioned against the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) to create fake images and videos intended to humiliate or shame individuals. He emphasized that while people may hold differing views, such disagreements should be expressed through constructive criticism and polite language rather than hostility.

Additionally, the King urged the public, particularly the younger generation, to verify the authenticity of information before sharing it to prevent the spread of slander and hatred. He noted that behind every individual targeted online is a person with a family, dignity, and feelings.
