Sultan of Sokoto calls for probe into killing of Colonel Abdur‑Razaq AbdulKarim Ode in Abuja

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President‑General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has demanded an immediate investigation into the alleged shooting of Igbo Muslim army officer Colonel Abdur‑Razaq AbdulKarim Ode at his residence in Abuja. He urged the Federal Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces to identify and bring those responsible to justice.

The Sultan condemned what he described as persistent hate speech and hostility toward minority Igbo Muslims in the South‑East, calling for an end to attacks on minority Muslims and Christians across the country. He emphasized that allowing any Nigerian, especially a soldier, to be killed without a thorough inquiry undermines nation‑building and peaceful coexistence, and he prayed for the deceased officer’s soul.
