Sultan of Sokoto celebrates 70th birthday

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, is celebrating his 70th birthday.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris congratulated the monarch, describing him as a distinguished religious and traditional leader dedicated to peace, unity, and the progress of Nigeria. Idris highlighted the Sultan’s background in the Nigerian Army and his nearly two decades of spiritual leadership as a source of stability and religious harmony.

Evangelist Dr. Kwamkur Samuel Vondip, a former director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and member of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), also extended felicitations. Vondip commended the Sultan’s role in fostering mutual respect and collaboration between Christians and Muslims, noting his commitment to justice and human dignity through his work with NIREC.
