Sultan Selangor aims to leave legacy of unity and social harmony

Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has expressed his desire to leave a legacy defined by progress, strong institutions, and social harmony. Speaking in a special interview to mark the Silver Jubilee of his reign, the Sultan emphasized that the welfare of the people must remain the core of his governance.

Reflecting on the past 25 years, the Sultan noted that despite changes in leadership, a foundation of responsible governance and opportunities for future generations has been established. He remarked that while physical infrastructure may change over time, values, trust, and unity are more enduring.

Regarding leadership, the Sultan advised future generations to view their roles as a trust rather than a privilege. He urged leaders to listen before making decisions, remain humble regardless of success, uphold the Constitution with loyalty, and never forget their responsibility to serve the people. He also shared this sentiment with the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, noting that the position is a responsibility rather than a privilege.
