Sultan Selangor criticizes political extremism and Tabung Haji mismanagement

Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has expressed deep frustration regarding excessive political activities that yield no results and the mismanagement of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH). During a special interview marking the Silver Jubilee of his reign, the Sultan stated, “Like the people, I am also fed up,” referring to unproductive political conduct.

The Sultan emphasized that race and religion should not be used as political tools and warned that royal institutions must not be dragged into partisan disputes. While acknowledging the right of politicians to debate policy and compete for support, he stressed that such competition must have boundaries and must never sacrifice racial harmony or religious understanding.

Regarding Lembaga Tabung Haji, the Sultan expressed disappointment over mismanagement and allegations of misappropriation. He reminded that the institution was established to assist Malaysian Muslims in saving for the Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah, and therefore, funds entrusted for religious purposes must be managed with full accountability and responsibility.
