Sultan Sharafuddin celebrates Selangor's SUKMA success and national unity

Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has congratulated the Selangor contingent for becoming the overall champions of the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA). The contingent achieved a historic milestone by winning 101 gold medals, surpassing their initial target of 80 and marking the highest gold medal tally in SUKMA history since 1986. The state collected a total of 245 medals.

In a separate symbolic gesture to mark the 69th Independence Day and Malaysia Day, the Sultan presided over the hoisting of the Jalur Gemilang at Dataran Selangor. The flag was raised on a 120-meter pole, noted as the highest in Southeast Asia, by members of the Royal Malaysian Navy. The Sultan emphasized that the national flag serves as a symbol of unity and patriotism, reminding citizens of their shared identity despite differences in race, religion, or political belief.
