Fatal knife attacks in Istanbul and Ankara leave three dead and several injured

In Istanbul's Sultangazi district, a traffic collision on 4 June involving the Fakhani family escalated into a knife fight that killed 25‑year‑old Baran Fakhani. His brother Barış Fakhani and father Hakim Fakhani were injured. Police arrested the alleged attacker İ. D. and seven additional suspects, bringing the total number of detainees to eight.

In the Esenyurt district of Istanbul, 22‑year‑old Ferdi Aras, who was preparing for his wedding, was stabbed to death after a disagreement with a man at a metrobus stop. The suspect, identified as 18‑year‑old B. B., and his father M. B., 49, were arrested and charged with intentional homicide.

In the Ankara suburb of Çubuk, a night‑time altercation on 5 June turned violent when participants used knives, resulting in the death of 31‑year‑old municipal pest‑control worker M. Y. Six other people were wounded. Two brothers, R. B. and P. B., were detained, later sentenced to pre‑trial detention, and remain in custody.
