Sulzfeld Duck Race and Leuzendorf Kindergarten Summer Fest Celebrate Community Traditions in Germany

On 5 July 2026 the municipality of Sulzfeld hosted the 23rd International Children’s Festival, featuring an SPD‑organized duck‑swimming competition on the Kohlbach. Three qualifying heats and a final saw 300 duck entrants, with the top ten ducks named after local children, and the ceremony was led by SPD councilor Johanna Hötzer and local party chair Rolf Becker.

A week later, on 21 June 2026, the Vogelnest kindergarten in Leuzendorf (Schrozberg) held a summer festival under the theme “In Omas dickem Märchenbuch”. The event transformed the village square into a fairy‑tale setting, with children performing as princesses, dwarfs and other characters, and a popular vote for the favourite story, Hänsel and Gretel. The festival was supported by parents, local clubs and businesses, and concluded with a celebration of trainee teacher Neele Guttropf’s successful final exam.

Both events highlighted community participation, local traditions and the involvement of volunteers and municipal organisations in small‑town Germany.
