Sumé holds fourth Health Fair to provide medical services to rural communities

The fourth edition of the Health Fair (Feira da Saúde) was held in the Jurema community and surrounding areas in the rural zone of Sumé, Brazil. Organized by the Sumé City Hall through the Municipal Health Secretariat, the event took place at the Tibúrcio Xavier de Souza Anchor Unit.

Local residents accessed a variety of services, including medical and nursing consultations, dental care via a mobile unit, vaccinations, and physiotherapy. The initiative also provided laboratory exam collection, appointment scheduling, the issuance and updating of SUS cards, and access to the Basic Pharmacy, where available medications were distributed on-site. Additionally, the Health Academy team led physical activity and stretching sessions.

Municipal Health Secretary Niedja Rodrigues and Mayor Manezinho Lourenço noted that the program aims to bring essential services directly to rural communities, reducing the need for residents to travel to the city center for medical care.
