Sumatra, Indonesia hit by 6.1 magnitude earthquake

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of western Sumatra, Indonesia, at a depth of 29 kilometers. This seismic event follows a period of intense activity in the region, including a 7.7 magnitude earthquake near Flores that resulted in at least 68 deaths and triggered numerous aftershocks.

In the aftermath of the recent Flores earthquake, authorities have been working to clear debris and reopen roads, though power outages have hindered search and rescue operations. Residents in coastal areas were briefly warned of potential tsunami risks, though warnings were later lifted as officials continued to monitor sea levels.
