Sumedang hosts West Java Paragliding Championship 2026

The West Java Paragliding Championship (WJPC) 2026 concluded on September 20, 2026, in Sumedang, Indonesia. The international competition, held from September 11 to 20 at Batu Dua, featured 88 athletes representing 13 different countries.

Key winners included Danny Leowardy from Indonesia in the Fun Class, Xiaoya Xie from China in the Female Class, and Juliosarta Foranke from Indonesia in the Sports Class. The Team category was won by Tahu Sumedang. In the Junior U26 category, Samuel Pisga Drajad of Indonesia secured a top position.

Rahmat Juliadi, Chairman of the Sumedang Regency Aero Sport Federation (FASI), reported that the event was generally smooth and safe, despite a minor incident during the first day of practice that required medical attention for one athlete. Due to technical factors including weather and military flight activity near Kertajati, the landing location was moved from Ujung Jaya to the Pendopo Pusat Pemerintahan Sumedang (PPS).
