Various local festivals and research programs held across Japan

Various local events and programs are being held across Japan during August 2026, ranging from music festivals to scientific research competitions.

In Fujisawa, the "ENOSHIMA JAM ROCK 2026" is scheduled for August 9 at Katase Higashihama Beach. This free reggae music event will feature live performances from artists such as Michiraku and various sound crews set against the backdrop of Enoshima.

In Miyagi Prefecture, "Island Fest 2026" is taking place at Katsurajima Beach from August 8 to August 11. The expanded four-day event features collaborations between island residents and students, offering seafood menus and music festivals.

Additionally, the "Marine Challenge Program 2026" Kansai Regional Competition was held in Osaka on August 8. The program supports teenagers conducting research on marine and water environments. Ten teams presented their findings, with four teams earning excellence awards and qualifying for the national competition in Tokyo in February 2027.
