Summer Film School in Uherské Hradiště Unveils July Program with New Eastern European Films

The 52nd Summer Film School (Letná filmová škola) in Uherské Hradiště announced its programme for 24‑30 July. The main “Eastern Promises” section will screen recent works by Polish directors Wojciech Smarzowski and Paweł Pawlikowski, alongside other Eastern European titles, a historical drama “Domovina” by Pawlikowski, and Smarzowski’s “Sweet Home”. The lineup also highlights Balkan cinema with four films, two filmed in Georgia, and includes Russian‑language productions that confront state propaganda.

Supporting events feature concerts by Czech‑Slovak singer‑songwriter Richard Müller, performances by Cirk La Putyka, and music by Harafica, Bert & Friends, and Kateřina Marie Tichá with Bandjeez. A travelling exhibition on football, organized with the Czech News Agency (ČTK), will run alongside literary programmes, photographic retrospectives, and discussions on mental health, identity and societal change. The festival’s media partner is ČTK, and the event is co‑hosted by Czech and Slovak cultural institutions.
